The 3-minute video introduces you to Jaipur's hand-knotted rugs and Chaos Theory, designed by its chief designer Kav
JAIPUR® Jaipur Handmade Rugs was founded by the founder Mr. NK Chaudhary in 1970. At the beginning, only 2 handlooms were set up in his own home. The founder has firmly grasped a key technology, which is to establish and serve a team of weavers belonging to the countryside and break the old rules of the game. This innovative model of working selflessly with love and care with community weavers and artisans has allowed Jaipur handmade rugs to thrive over the decades and become a global rug business today.
Chaos Theory was designed by Kavi, the chief designer in Jaipur. Kavi graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago and then worked as a painter and carpet designer. Kavi noticed the patterns created by the reflection of candles on the glass and spent long periods of time watching these patterns appear through a prism. Using organic dyes and batik to repeatedly print its perceived changing form on unused mediums. This design is perfectly transferred to the carpet through the ancient hand-knotted bream weaving technique through selected fine wool and organically dyed hand-spun yarn. A hand-knotted carpet requires 180 hands to go through 18 complicated procedures and takes half a year to a year to complete. Each process relies on manpower to be closely connected, and its artistic value is self-evident.
